I noticed on the wifes Toyota Camry 06-V6 with 160,000 miles that it is just now starting to use some oil say a quart every 7,000 miles and that it is seeping out of one of the valve covers. Not that a quart every 7K is much but im thinking about a High millage oil? this car has had a diet of PP or Shell Full synthetic all its life. If I do switch to a HM oil is the Penzoil HM a good one? or is there another I should look at?

u will most likely get 20 opinions of what oil to use. Just use what the manual says or any good synthetic oil name brand..Oil suggestions are many , but then so are shoes...

Call Toyota............imho high mileage to me is around 300k.

Pennzoil HM is fine. Maxlife from Valvoline seems like one of the better ones too.

It is possible that you will get some benefits from the HM products. My old car has a bit of a leak and the HM oils try to keep it at bay, especially when the oil is first changed. If I put in a non-HM or if I put in synthetic, I get a small puddle, but again EVERY situation is different.

Since it's a minor leak and it's been on synthetic it's whole life, I'd stick with a synthetic HM like M1. If it gets worse, either get it fixed or switch to Maxlife - at least topoffs will be cheaper.

PZ HM oil is a fine choice. Toyota doesn't spec syn oil for this application. If you want to stick with syn for your own peace of mind, MaxLife is an outstanding choice, as others have stated.

Hm oils haven't cured the oil consumption on my vehicles nor have they helpped with leakage, I would stick with whatever u been using.

I would bet when you fix the valve cover leak the consumption will go away.

IMO an HM oil isn't necessary oir advised - keep doing what you are doing

Maybe she drives nicely and despite the synthetic the rings are getting stuck you can try a piston soak with Kreen or something like that.

I switched over to Pennzoil HM and had great results. My truck was leaking while on a diet of QSUD and after the switch my leak stopped completely. I go 5k now without the level moving on the dipstick at all.

I have had great results with Mobil SUPER HM (blend) in 5w20 on my 2002 f350 5.4l V8. Had a small weeping issue and consumed a small (in my opinion) amount of synthetic.

Previous consumption was 1 qt per 2000 miles (mobil 1 5w20 full syn), that is now 1/2 a quart per 2000 miles (mobil super HM blend 5w20) and the slight weeping has all but stopped. Before there would be one or two drips of oil from sitting overnight, now NONE. Pennzoil yellow bottle also slowed the consumption to 1/2 quart per 2000 miles, but the weeping wasn't cured.

I am amazed at some of these recommendations. The vehicle is only using 1 quart every 7k!!!

I'd replace the valve cover gaskets. At 160k, some minor maintenance is to be expected. You can look at it as an excuse to get pictures for your own 'valve cover removed 160k on PP/ShellFormula' thread. Also a new pcv valve while your in there wrenching away if it's been a while. Going to HM MO wouldn't hurt anything except maybe a -slight- mpg hit.
