High Mileage Oil question

My car has 154,000 miles ('95 Saturn SC1). I'm the original owner. It has run on synthetic most of its life with a few dino changes mixed in. I have run an Auto-Rx treatment and know the engine is spotless.

This past November, I obtained some Valvoline Maxlife full synthetic (in the O'Reilly 6 for $6 promo).

This was my first time using a high mileage oil. I am now developing some excess oil spotting on my garage floor. Did I make a mistake by using a high mileage oil? Do you think the seal conditioners are causing this?

Otherwise, the oil seems to be performing exceptionally! I could feel a difference in how smoothly the engine ran the day I began using it.

I haven't used full synthetic Maxlife, but their blend stopped my old 91 Dakota from dripping oil.

High mileage oils use an additive that swell seals.Thats how they stop leaks. Think of a bubble on your seal it thins out the seal material and sonner or later leak starts.

I hightly doubt that a name brand high mileage oil will make your engine leak beyond that leakage from cleaning off a false seal of crud. Then it will recondition the seals. Yes they may use a seal sweller, but it is balanced with other additives so that the whole package conditions the seals, not just swell them to no end.
