any BITOGers recommended additives for oil for high mileage cars? not talking about using high mileage oil, but an additive that does the same thing, like swell gaskets/seals etc ? safely

vairox:

Go to www.auto-rx.com read the testimonials, the FAQ, and the instructions sections. Auto-RX can condition the seals to reduce or stop seal borne leaks.

Many on this board use ARX religiously with excellent results. I'm about to take the plunge myself for two different vehicles.

There is a nice holiday price deal right now as well, so check out the website.

Well, I tried the link to Auto-RX in my post, and it didn't work. Go to the top of this web page and click on '59vetteman's official post about the auto-rx FAQ. He's got three links there that will help you get to the site -- or Google Auto-RX and that will give you the link too.

wheres the holiday coupon code? $24.97 is what it was months ago... pretty expensive for a seal conditioner IMO, thats all i need it for

It's www.auto-rx.com

That link has a comma at the end of it.

ARXH5 is the holiday coupon....trust me, it's worth $50 a bottle.

I've purchased 11 bottles so far. I've done 4 of my own cars, gave two to my brother last month for his birthday (he loves it already) and I'm currently doing my best friend's car.

On my crown vic the mileage went up so much auto-rx paid for the first treatment in about 3000 miles! Therefore, it's cheap because it works.

If you want to know what's expensive it's products that claim to do something and then don't follow up on it.

im not doubting that it works, i just need a seal conditioner...

the holiday price is $6 off per bottle, when you buy 6 bottles or more...so you would have to spend $114 to get the savings

The holiday pricing coupon is as follows:

2 Bottles $22.97 ea. ($2 off)
3 Bottles $21.97 ea. ($3 off)
4 Bottles $20.97 ea. ($4 off)
5 Bottles $19.97 ea. ($5 off)
6 Bottles $18.97 ea. ($6 off) Best Deal!

A $24 bottle of auto-rx is going to do a lot more for your engine then $24 in high mileage oil.

"You would get more collateral benefits from A-Rx, but why would you want that? "

right, like clearing out sludge that is probably stopping leaks lol...

What do you think the other seal conditioners are going to do? They'll just do it slowly so the leak stays bad for a longer period of time.

By cleaning out the sludge that's blocking the leak auto-rx will restore oil flow to the seal. By returning oil flow to the seal it will restore it's pliability and size.

This is how all seal conditioners are going to work. With sludge/deposits in the way then seal conditioners can't get to the seal to condition it.

Thus making auto-rx effective.

i agree with an arx run for any older engine- but after the arx, you may want to continue beefing up the conditioners and such...

maybe someone could make a recomendation for an adative to be used after arxing is complete, i was thinking Valvoline high milage oil treatment, or VSOT. the VHMO probably has more seal swell conditioners, but less moly.
