I wonder

I have heard people say do not use Synthetic oil on high milage cars that have always had regular oil.

however near all high milage oils are blends.

However Pennzoil High Mileage is NOT.

Why do you think that is?

Also some people claim that blends are 50% Syn and 50% Conventional or at least
Pennzoil syn blend is 50% SYN and 50% Conventional and it says so on the bottle.

so what do you all think?

is it better to have a HIGH MILAGE OIL to be conventional?

Or HIGH MILAGE oil be synthetic blend

or VALVOLINE or Mobil 1 High Milage FULL SYN

however not sure if those are meant for cars that have always used synthetic oil.

its starting to get real complicated on what oils to use is what lots of people are saying.

You can use any oil (as long as it meets the requirements for your car) at any time, high mileage/synthetic/conventional.

The thing with synthetic in a older car is.. that its possible it will clean crud left behind, and create leaks, not the synthetics fault, just the fact that a leaking gasket, was filled with crud. I will also mentioned that when I had a Buick century that was getting a little older, I switched it to Valvoline Maxlife, about 500 miles into the oil change, it started leaking pretty heavily around the oil pan gasket, about 500 miles later it had stopped almost completely. So make of that what you will.. If you are concerned with leaks, If the cars past maintenance is questionable, I would probably avoid a normal synthetic, however a synthetic High Mileage may not be a bad thing.

Thanks for you input.

I'm confused.

This isn't a VOA or UOA ... Why post this topic here in the gear oil analysis forum???

Are you asking about gear lubes? Engine oils? Transmission fluids? Or just opening up a topic for banter?

I'm moving this to my "best guess" of where it might be suited.
