Gotta love the bureaucratic bull****.
What a waste of taxpayer money. Seriously? They are 26 year old Land Rovers. Its not like its a bunch of drug lords illegally importing Lambos.

What about my dads Jeep Comanche with no air bags? It used to have a bench seat with lap belts before we installed the black leather buckets. I can think of a lot of "unsafe" vehicles on the road today. Just last summer I saw a convoy of old Model Ts on the highway. EPA regulations? Clearly he has no old diesel VWs in his area.
The "agent" in the video is a f tard. Clearly he is puppeting someone else and not thinking on his own. The article even mentions they were worried about this while the thousands of illegal kids were pouring in the US.

It seems like the main motive is to crush the chiropractor that imports them. Perhaps some nobody decided to make this their personal cause and took it much further than it would ever normally go. Enabled by their own ignorance, position of power, and chain of lemmings who only do what they're told.

We're allowed to import carbureted minis without airbags because people would be crazy to daily drive them, and they make nice collectors pieces while polluting minimally driven on weekends.
Add fuel injection and an airbag, still in a lightweight chassis, and someone will daily drive it, depriving BMW of NA money from selling a new mini.

The reality is that you need to hide your questionably imported Defender.
It sucks for anyone who bought an illegally imported model unknowingly. But it seems a lot of the enthusiasts who bought them probably are knowledgeable enough to know something is going on.
It seems parts swapping/vin-swapping and other shenanigans have been somewhat common among some in the Defender enthusiast community.

Well to be fair anyone that uses those to take their kids to sports is a horrible person. You can say "You can't possibly know that" all you want, but you know just as well as I do, this person was a moron, and odds are most/all of the rest of the drivers are too.
One of these days, I will import a Falcon XB Coupe.
