Is there a way to hide a thread from seeing in under "New Posts"? Another forum I frequent has that feature and it's sooo nice.

That requires nearly "watching" every thread I want to see other than the one I don't, right?

Just ignore and pass over the threads you don't want to read or post in ... that's a filter you can control, lol.
It is commonly referred to as the IGNORE THREAD function and I too would like to see this feature become available on this website.
If the temptation does not exist or it is at least out of sight and out of mind then we cannot be tempted to engage with it
