HF has two sets, one for around $30 and one for a little over $50. They have rubber to protect fancy wheels.

The only difference I see is the more expensive set includes a 3/4" socket. Is that needed for many cars?

Yea, if you can't think of a time that you've needed the extra socket, then you probably don't need it now

Love HF!

Snapon/ Bluepoint Sells 1/2mm oversized lug nut sockets especially for those dumb chrome nuts.

Said Dodge lug nuts indirectly led me to break my ankle (turning to get something to free them) and end my tire busting career.

I have the small reversible set (6 sizes, three sockets, one 3" extension) and the detent ball broke under light use. They were nice to pocket if a customer wanted a retorque check in the parking lot and I didn't know what size nuts they had.

The 3/4 socket would be handy for spring compressors and pullers.

I poked around on EBAY and did not see any.

My 25-30 years old Craftman set has both 19mm and 3/4", but it doesn't have 18mm.

The initial question was for a socket set specifically for fancy wheels and dumb chrome nuts. It has rubber in places to protect the wheels and dumb chrome nuts.

I ordered an Astro combo 18.5mm/19.5mm for $10 shipped on EBAY. Luckily I have a 20mm regular socket in a Craftsman set. I removed the lug nuts using both 19mm and 20mm.

I hope Astro is a decent brand of socket. The other brand I saw was Grey Pneumatic.

Be nice if you give the links to these sets. So we can see what you are talking about. I use 3 different sizes all day 19, 21, 22mm. (HF deep impact sockets)

I have the 7 pc set; they work fine. Just noticed today the plastic sleeve on the 21mm socket is starting to split and I never even used that one; I'll have to take it in for a replacement.

I have a similar set except the plastic on the outside is colored all the way down.

some chrome lugnuts are worse than others.

On my 2007 focus and gf's 2004 focus all the chrome "caps" on the lugnuts were falling off

I had 3 tires with 19mm and one tire with 18mm.
She had some brake work done and they stripped the 18mm..
so we got 4 free 19mm ones again. :P
