2013 Mercedes e550 coupe. The biturbo one. Car drives great. Extremely fast. But once in a blue moon on the Highway the car would hesitate to accelerate. Wont kick down gear either when smashing the gas pedal. After a few seconds car drives normally. What gives? There aren’t any codes, and car will accelerate to redline no problem afterwards. Maybe a slightly clogged cat?

Slightly clogged cat would cause more repeatable symptoms, not once in a blue moon. If you eliminate the basic stuff, plugs, injectors, cam and crank sensors, any further diagnosis is probably a waste of money. Until it becomes a regular event or throws a code, the tech has little to go on.

Yeah I understand that’s very true. No codes so it’s all a guessing game. The previous owner was an idiot. The car requires premium gasoline and he tried to save money by using 87 and Lucas top cylinder lubricant

It really is a guessing game. Years ago I had an intermittent plug wire defect that threw no codes. Garage used a scope to diagnose it (what they told me). Another instance I had what seemed like a slipping transmission and a guy had to drive with me to observe live data and he figured out it was a bad throttle position sensor (I think) that signaled the transmission to act "very goofy" slipping sensation.

Best of luck.
