How do you differentiate from the 2? I lifted something kinda heavy last week and i feel something on the right side.No pain, just minor discomfort.

Is there a bulge in your groin? Any swelling around the testes? Those are some signs of a hernia. But I am not a doctor. I suggest you see your GP soon -- hernias can get very serious if not taken care of.

An inguinal hernia is a weak spot in the abdominal wall, on either side of the groin, just above the leg/abdominal crease. If you bear down (like grunting) and can feel something pop in and out, it's very probably a hernia. I had a minor one develop spontaneously about seven years ago. It's relatively minor surgery, but don't plan on driving (or doing anything really) for about a week. When in doubt, see a doctor. And, if it is a hernia, PM me for helpful hints during your recovery.

Hoping it's just a pulled muscle. Hang in there.

A hernia tends to be more discomfort than pain. And you usually have one before it becomes obvious...the lifting hasn't caused it,just made it worse. In hindsight I had a hernia for some years before it actually became noticeable enough to get it looked at.Then some months waiting for surgery.I had the repair in May....and still recovering.

Another way to check for an inguinal hernia is to lay down and see if indeed there is a "bulge" there on your right side, it will flatten out.

I had one repaired back in 2002 and all though I "pulled" it really hard one time, I haven't had a problem with it in over 7 years.

A surgeon that does Inguinal Hernia repair can tell you in about 15 seconds if you really have one. The "check" is not a pleasant experience. I had surgery to repair a right inguinal hernia 7 years ago. The "check" was more painful than the surgery and recovery.

If you do have the surgery, take it very easy for a week, and as weird as it sounds, do everything in your power to avoid sneezing for a couple of weeks after surgery. Trust me.

Well, I didn't really feel it at all today.I have searched for any pain, bulge and to feel with my hand where i feel it and nothing.

I suspected I had a hernia in the last couple of weeks before I sold my business and moved out - there was no time to look into it further. Then I was working as a motorcycle mechanic instead of a car mechanic, and didn't have anymore symtoms.A year later I'm back on cars, and the symtoms reapear.I still had the hernia,it just wasn't apparent with the lighter work load.
