Poor workmanship as I am leery of is how poorly end caps were glued on some samples. My understanding heat activated glue is sparsely applied and even seen samples missing it in spots. I doubt if he has a chunk of plastic in his engine but defiantly it was missing when filter was assembled. So often the adage holds true "they don't make em like they used to".

well yea it's not worth it when you only run it for 3,000 miles!

i do agree i don't care for the ecores, way to easy to tear off the end caps and sealing is always a question, but hey thats me.

I welcome E-cores. I have tested them by USING them myself and cutting each and every one of them open. Not by making ignorant claims on what could happen while using them. They have a thicker outter can than most, they have lots of media, and they are constructed fairly well. Yes I know they do not have metal end caps, whatever. As long as those end caps never fail ( and they havent with me) I see NO problem running them. For the price you pay for a ST you get a quality 5-7k OCI filter. That is bang for your buck.

It's not the bang for the buck I'm worried about I'll spend $8 on a filter it's the bang in my truck from running these,I'll spend a little more on a filter i KNOW is quality built, like WIX,NG,Yellow P1.

yea they have lots of media but that media is THIN tears very easily(yes I've cut many open too) compared to the above, how is that suppose to trap anything,id love to see a particle count compared to the above.

and constructed fairly well? look there glue job I'm not impressed to say the least, and a thicker outer can is meaning less in a street application.

I dont have a problem if someone wants to run these,i know some guy's on here like em,i will not,not when i got better filters for just a few more bucks at my disposal.

Yes, that end cap pulling apart is 100% ignorance. They don't use any glue. Only the inner surface is bonded to the media, and naturally the rest easily pulls away. Of course all the pressure is pushing the end cap towards the media.

Obviously the guy doesn't know much about the ecore design, as evidenced by not knowing about the nitrile adbv/bypass combo valve, and nylon center tube cage.

That said, when you compare it the traditional AC Delco recently posted here, it's easy to see why many prefer and stocked up on the traditional AC Delco design.

I don't know how the vast number of flanged unions that I assembled over 15 years of industrial experience managed not to leak since I didn't glue my gaskets to the flange. Heck, on frequently torn down assemblies I even Neverseized them to assure that they wouldn't stick.

Why didn't they leak
