Help with Window Vent Visor

To make a long story short. The vent visor around the windows on both side of my car is peeling off on the top section and partial section going down in the front. ITs still holding but I"d like to get this corrected.

So if I yank the whole thing out and start new.. I have a few questions.

1.) Where and what kind of 3M tape adhesive do they use or would work?

2.) what do I use to clean the residual gunk off the door frame and vent visor itself?

Any tips or info would be great.

Goof Off would remove the adhisive. It comes in an small can yellow in color. 3M has a double sided tape that should work.

Goo Gone is another good adhesive remover available at target and other grocery stores.

I had the same problem and ended up using Acetone. Seemed to work. Use a small amount first and don't spill it on anything.

3M makes an adhesive remover that works well. If it all hasn't come off yet use dental floss or fishing line to work behind it, much will come off that way. If you want to PM me, I'll get you some more tape. I work for the company.

Commerical adhesive removers work well, as does warmth, WD40 and fishing line. Be sure to clean the area with isopropyl alcohol prior to installing new tape.

Thanx for the great info guys. I wouldn't have even thought of the floss/fishin line idea.. and probably would've attempt to pry or rip the section thats still stuck on off..

Sorry to sound dumb.. but I never really looked into isopropyl alcohol as far as where to get them. IT appears to be the same as rubbing alcohol to some level. Would rubbing alcohol be sufficient or can I find isopropyl alcohol in most paint department?

I used the spray can of 3M adhesive remover, great product.
Rubbing alcohol, either 70 or 90% will work fine.
Get the 3M, red backed double sided tape, from any autoparts store.

Isopropyl alcohol is the same as rubbing alcohol.

I agree. Just make sure that you use 3M and not some off brand, as the 3M is strongest in my opinion. In fact, my visors are coming loose in the same way. Thanks for reminding me to get them fixed.
