My son (13 yr old) was doing some painting for our church over the weekend, then hopped in my wife's Honda to come home. When my wife got home she noticed several spots of dried white paint on the leather passenger seat and center console.

I googled how to clean this off and the consensus was to use finger nail polish remover. Big mistake! It also takes the color off the leather! Fortuantely, it was only a small dime-sized spot and I noticed immediately so stopped. Any suggestions how to clean this up? It's Rustoleum paint.

Ouch tough one. There is a product called Goof-Off, that MIGHT work. Home Depot will have it in the paint department. I would test it in any area that is not visible first. Goof off won't lift color from carpeting and is made to get dried latex paint off furniture and carpeting.

Again use with CAUTION and test it first.

Edit to add:
Sometimes with leather you can get lucky using very hot water on a rag to soften the latex paint if it hasn't had time to fully cure. Again no guarantees

It'll come off on it's own.

The solution of using acetone did not consider the fact you are removing paint from leather. It is one of the strongest solvents.

Rustoleum is a tough one. Latex would be easier.
Paint thinner on a cotton swab - use care .
Expect it to be imperfect afterwards.
