Hey,
I'm finishing up a rebuild on a 5vz for my 98 4runner and am looking for some info on my replacement alternator. I had swapped the original alt for a cs144 (95 DeVille) for the increased amps. At the time for some reason I purchased a spare and was going to install it on the rebuilt engine. The alt has the same wiring plug but 3 external pins that I can not get any info on. I was hoping someone here may have a thought what they are and if I could just put some marine heat shrink over them.
Regards,
Matthew

It seems aparent to me that these connectors replace the flat connector in the old alternator. For whatever reason, different model/different year, or better connections.
So, whatever plugged into that old flat connector will need to be modified to use the new style connector.

But the new one does have the same flat connector( plfs), as the old just the additional pins there.
I'm real confused

Thank you!
I did find it was for the heated windshield (after many hours of searching) but was unsure if this was going to be a problem.
Appreciate the help!

As the diagram shows, when the windshield heater is not on (which is almost 100% of the time the car is being driven) the relay is open and the pins are effectively unconnected.
