help with buying compressor Thu, 18 February 2010 04:03
Hi

I need a compressor for my personal use, I want to setup this up in my garage. I wont need this for more than 10 or 15 minutes of use, mainly for buffing and sanding.

Please help me find something cheap and can be stored in winter.

This is the compuressor, I am thinking of buying and fits my budget. Is this any good? Do I need to changing the wiring in my garage?

Thanks for any help

Specs from that 1st linked compressor look great. Might even be overkill:

- 7 peak HP belt drive motor
- Cast iron twin cylinder pump
- Industry leading 155 PSI max pressure
- Spread voltage motor allows unit to operate on 208-230V without any wiring changes
- 13.4 CFM at 40PSI, 11.5 CFM at 90 PSI
- Two year manufacturer's warranty

You will more than likely need to rewire your garage. The copper made my underground 8/3 service a few hundred $$$. (I put in a 220 for a welder and there's lots you can do with it.)

If you don't mind pausing while the compressor charges up you can get by with one that runs on 120 volts. The buffer you choose will give airflow specs that it needs.
