I just bough my 1st air compressor and it is a little 2 gallon table top for small projects. It is a Campbell Hausfeld brand. Seems to work good but I have one small problem. The threads that screw into the air gun leak air. I have the brass fittings as tight as they can go. How do I stop this leak? I noticed that all other threads on the air hose and other fittings have a blue color coating on the threads. Do I need to coat the air gun threads also to stop the leak? If so what it that stuff called and where can I buy some? Thank you!

grab some teflon tape and wrap it around the threads. you can use the teflon paste but it can be a little messy. the tape is really cheap a couple of bucks gets you a sleeve of 5 rolls

yes. if you put the tape on wrong most of the time it will come off as you are threading it in. then just use some new tape and put it on the other way. get a few wraps around the threads for a good seal.

the tape should be available at most hardware stores.

Yes.

With the male threads facing you, wrap it clockwise.

This way the teflon tape won't want to unravel as you're threading it in to the female part.

I use pipe-fitter's tape. It's about 5-10x the price, but it's about that much thicker as well.

Either will probably do just fine.

I prefer to use the blue (medium strength) Loctite on air fittings. It is easier to apply, looks neater, and doesn't shred if disassembled.

Thank you guys! I'll give the tape a shot! Never would have guessed to tape the threads! Ya learn something every day!
