i have a devilbiss 2400psi pressure washer. ive been through like 4 pumps on this thing. devilbiss pumps suck. they just suck. no ammount of synthetic oil, or super low change interval can make these pumps better. the valve springs break (poor metal) the plungers wear out. the plunger seals wear out. the valve body wear out. devilbiss sells a rebuilt kit for the pump but its missing all the important pieces. its basically a glorified gasket set.

the good news is that it comes with a honda gc 160 ohc 5hp horizontal shaft motor. the motor runs great. the pressure wand and hose are also in very good working condition, actually i have a spare wand incase my original breaks.

so i need a new pump. im not looking to spend much money. however i obviously need something thats going to last for more than 100 hours and fits the honda gc motor.
you guys have any suggestions?

how do i find out what exactly fits my honda gc motor?

I too have a excell/devilbiss 2400 psi washer and the pump crapped out on me 2 years ago. I purchased a oil lubed pump (different style looks like this one 290058265916) from apwdistributing (eBay) and it's been working great so far.

I have a comet pump on my Be washer. It's also powered by Honda GC160 and been in service every summer for the past 7+yrs. Absolutely luving it.

I am assuming that you have an AR pump on your Devillbiss washer. One of the reasons that the pump may be failing is that you are leaving the unit in bypass for an extended period of time. That is the unit is running but no water is being expelled from the nozzle. (gunjet in closed position) If so, the water is making a loop back thru the head of the pump continously and will overheat in due time. I never leave my unit in bypass for more than a minute sometimes maybe two minutes. Otherwise I shut it off. I just rebuilt an AR pump for my son-in-law on his Devillbiss washer. The V packings appear to be similar to a General or Interpump also Italian made.

My personal washer is a 5HP Kawasaki with an SF Cat pump that I built myself(used to be in that type of business). I'm on my second unloader (or bypass) valve. The Cat and General pumps can be had with component unloaders that are not part of the pump. The unloader is very much a wear part as are the valves and packings. While I'm sold on Cat and General, the AR pump doesn't appear to be a shabby pump neither. Good Luck and watch your bypass time on your pressure washer.

thanks for the help guys.
i NEVER leave it in bypass for more than 30 seconds. thats my limit. anything longer and i shut her down. i also took good care of the pumps. devilbiss pumps suck.

You can get the same pump on www.smallenginewarehouse.com for less money if I rightly recall. Note that this pump has an intregal unloader valve (it is part of the head of the pump-not good)

You would be better off with a cat or general that allows components to be added, not built in.

Again the pump you have is not a devillbiss, it was manufactured by another company, probably AR and might be a 3G27. Good Luck

I stand corrected. I have rebuilt a fair amount of Devillbiss brand pressure washers and have yet to see that pump model # on any of them. Hopefully you can get your washer refurbished with another pump.

Have you looked at Northerntool.com? They have a lot of pressure washer pumps/parts.

I don't know how cheap they are but they have a lot of info and parts. I have bought an extra wand, tips, hose etc from them.
