I saw a sale of Prestone heavy duty diesel engine coolant recently.
What is the difference between that and other coolants for gas engines like old Prestone green?
Would it be ok to use it in todays car engines with their aluminum blocks and heads? Or maybe even better?

Alot of diesel require additives to control Cavitation which is pitting of the piston liner. There are a few products out that have this additve in it, but it still needs replenishing every 15,000 miles via an additive. I preffer to add my additive. I generally use pencool 3000.

Use a coolant that meets your OEM specs

And for those looking to buy this for their diesel the prestone diesel coolant uses DCA2 which is the preferred flavor for Detroit diesel.

Most other major brands, CAT, Cummins, international, John Deere prefer the DCA4 flavors
