c502,
My wifey's 04 camry comes with all sorts of smaller parts that are domestically sourced (e.g. power window switch, dome light plastic assembly, etc.) that rattles due to loose fit and finish and also generally of inferior quality if you are to compare to those of Japanese sourced OE parts supplier. Most major computer controlled components for these domestically-constructed cars are supplied by, of course, ND or similar which quality is assured.
And don't give me that "must meet manufacturer's design requirement/OE requirements tune" for I do see discrepancies between the 2, citing my neighbour's cali-built corolla with that dreadful Delco alternator that goes every 4yrs (he's already on his 2nd rebuilt replacement) while all other components are still in good shape.
Now my family owns 2 domestically-built imports (civic and camry) and a import (fit built in Suzuka, Jpn) and frankly, the domestic builts are only up to 70% of my expectations, while all others being equal.
Lastly, I don't have any good news for you for I ended up having to replace a switch in that dome light assembly (still loose) and ended up putting a dab of silicone RTV sealant to keep it from rattling loose (the original one was loose to begin with).
My 2c's worth. YOu don't have to agree with my armchair observations if you choose not to.
