So there is a hose that runs from my thermostat housing to a metal line I'm guessing it goes to the heater core? Should it be hot all the time? I'm asking because my recent ac work. All help is great

If its coming from the thermostat area I would say yes,its supposed to be hot all the time.AC work shouldnt effect cooling system function.(unless the fan isnt coming on).

On many, but not all. Some vehicles shut off the flow when no heat is needed.

Some cars use a heater control valve to regulate the hot water to the heater core. Others use a blend door in the dash and always have water running through the heater.
Your Saturn uses a blend door so the heater and plumbing to it will always be hot.

Well that solves that^^ to bad I was hoping that was why my ac wasn't colder. Hmmmm well i guess theres nothing wrong and I just have to accept the ac the way it is.

You can make sure the door is shut all the way, and is sealed. [usually a foam gasket]
This will make sure no heat leaks and warms up your AC output.
Clean your condenser [looks like a radiator]. Soft brush and water hose .

If you're suspicious of heat getting into your AC you can disconnect the two heater hoses from your core at the firewall and loop them together with a coupler.

On your saturn this will be a hassle getting back there. I also don't know if one hose is 3/4 and the other 5/8, they like to do that to mess with people.

I find most of my cars use a blender door; I was very surprised with my mercedes when I turned the heat down it kept producing heat for a minute as the air blew over the heater core that was cooling down.
