Heater core leak in a 2004

I was advised by the parts guy at a GM dealership to only put in 2 tablets. If I put in the full 5 in the pack it might clog up the heater core as to not put out any heat. He also told me too crush them and pour the powder in. The whole tablet wouldn't fit in the hole any way. I will keep you guys informed. A package costed a little under $5.

You have to install the tablets in a RADIATOR HOSE or else they will not circulate throughout the system. Dumping them into the pressurized surge tank is not adequate...that bottle does not get enough flow.

I've been dosing my son's 86 528e for the same condition for several yrs. It uses a 1/2 bottle of Barsleak annually.

OK. Just to bring you all up to date. I have put 2 of the GM tablets for collant leak in. There is also a dose of Bars Stop Leak in there, that went in first. As of right now, there is no odor of coolant in the car. Before I did all of this, I flushed and filled with Peak Global Lifetime 50/50. Another step I did was to spray an air deodorizer I had purchased at an auto parts store. A friend of mine suggested that it might have been mold or something that was sucked in by the fresh air vent.

What ever I did, I don't have to change the heater core and spend $1000.
