Nothing wrong with Havoline / Chevron oils. They're my first choice when the price is right.
Yah they think that kind of marketing is going to suck everyone in! Just pay no never mind to that stuff and just make sure it has an API seal of approval on the Jug!Can you guys provide you opinions as to how the Havoline PRO-DS High Mileage Full Synthetic is different from the Havoline PRO-DS Lifelong Full Synthetic? They both contain seal conditioning agents which is typically found in high mileage oils only. But the new oil with the "Lifelong" designation is being marketed as an oil that is good for new and old vehicles no matter the mileage.
Well… that will put BITOG and shill salesmen out of business…Yah they think that kind of marketing is going to suck everyone in! Just pay no never mind to that stuff and just make sure it has an API seal of approval on the Jug!
The Pro-Ds has no seal conditioners but the Lifelong does. This may be a middle ground between Pro-Ds and High Mileage. It’s very hard to know for sure.Pretty sure it's just a relabeling of the Pro-DS with no other changes.
*EDIT* The Dexos License number changed, may well be slightly more than just a name change.
That was way back in 2021, since then we've had confirmation that the 'Lifelong' is a 'Do it all (IE HM and non-HM) oil'The Pro-Ds has no seal conditioners but the Lifelong does. This may be a middle ground between Pro-Ds and High Mileage. It’s very hard to know for sure.

I recently used the Lifelong 0W-20 in my 2021 Nissan Rogue because it takes 5.4 quarts and it’s very nicely priced. But my only concern is that I thought that the seal conditioners will cause valve seals to swell and then we need to continue using High Mileage oils that contain that additive. Please correct me as I am not very knowledgeable in this. Is the Lifelong oil as safe as a regular full synthetic oil in this regard? That was way back in 2021, since then we've had confirmation that the 'Lifelong' is a 'Do it all (IE HM and non-HM) oil'
Still my go-to for the Ranger as well.
Reading the information sheets for Havoline oils, only the High Mileage ones and the Lifelong say that they use seal conditioners. But you have a good point and I was thinking that maybe the Lifelong does not contain as much seal conditioners as the High Mileage ones.I was under the impression that pretty much all oils have seal conditioners. Maybe not as much?
BFF motor oilThe Lifelong is fine to use from cradle to grave.
