so im at work cant help but notice the 11.99 5qt special is havoline any good? what confuse's me is why chevron is on one bottle and texaco on the other? I just want to add oil to my Stash I'll never use it I love synthetic's to much... but also Saw box's full of Mobil 7500 Cleen for a 1.27 Retail. maybe I'll buy the Hav and Do Oil change's on the side and just use the micro guard filter's for target practice unless i can nab the old Micro guard/Puralator one's.

yeah true I was Thinking just on returning the filter's and [censored] off my store manager. then it becomes 1.68 a QT!

I would just upgrade to MC if they had one. It would be like 30 cents more.
Good oil! I might just go get some tomorrow

You are supposed to be able to but I get resistance or "no" from O'Reilly's when I try to do just that. But as soon as they are out of the Microgard in my size substitutions are suddenly no problem.

if you get it just return the filter's and buy a wix or somthing else because its full price on the special with the qts being 1.68

Yes. Just take your receipt and tell them the truth. “I only wanted the oil" if they give you trouble just just hit up another o'reillys.

I know from experince because ive already bought two deals.

Here in Wenatchee, Wa at OReillys they have 5 Quarts Chevron Supreme and a MicroGard filter for $11.99. I have 4 deals so far, with 7 quarts 10w-30, 7 quarts 10w-40 and 6 quarts HD30(Actually just 30).

Microgard filters aren't the best out there. In fact, they're basically just re-labeled OCODs as far as I can tell. Meaning that they'll work well for a moderate OCI in 99.99% of cases. I have one waiting to go on the Focus this weekend. I'm going to run it for 6 months and never even think about it. They'll serve you just fine.

They used to be made by Fram, but MircoGard are now made by Champ and very similar to the STP line of oil filter. (Funny how the change to Fram news spread like wildfire and no one noticed the change to Champ)

Also, Chevron Supreme motor oil can be substitute for the deal but harder to find.

Interesting! No idea how I missed that thread... A little over a year ago I got that Peak oil/Microgard filter deal for $10 - $5 MIR. That Microgard was still the Fram clone. Either way, E-cores aren't anything to worry about. Ever seen a cartridge-style filter installed? Often times, they sit surrounding an E-core style plastic cage that stays on there for the life of the vehicle.

proof, not conjecture please.

Not conjecture. My co-worker lost an engine over that exact issue, Champ Labs did pay for a replacment however with very little fuss so kudo's to them in that regard.

Plenty of pics of e-cores with blown out media posted on here as well. Most did not lead to engine failure though.
