having trouble getting a Single insurance quote

... who would have thought it would be difficult?
as some of you may know, My Fiancee and I are buying our first house (Yay!)
This requires both us Getting a homeowners policy, and me finally getting my own car insurance...
yes, I'm 46 years old, and still the 3rd listed vehicle and Driver on my Parents' (whom i still live with) Auto insurance. - by doing so I've had REALLY cheap insurance, like $500/yr for Full coverage...
they've (and by extension I've) had the same insurer for longer than I've been driving...at least 30 years. no complaints with the company either...
so, you would think, as they've been covering me for 30 years, it would be a no brainer that I could easily get my insurance from them....

2 weeks ago, I did the online form requesting a quote, purposefully didn't give a phone number, and indicated that I preferred Email communication.
next Day, I get an email from a local agent, asking a) address of the house, b)for a phone number, and C) if we could communicate via Text.
I replied with the address, but re affirmed that I would like to stick to email, as I work a daytime Retail job, and we can't "be on our phones", etc..

never got a reply back..
yesterday, I tired again, with the specific agency's website, since I already am on a policy of theirs, it was able to pull up both MY info, and My car.. this time I gave them my phone number.
almost 24 hrs now, near the end of their workday, and i've not gotten a call/text/email. bupkiss. totally ghosting me.

who would have thought it would be this difficult to get a response from someone you want to GIVE MONEY too.. ( okay, I don't really want to, but I have to)

1. Find a different agent. Ask around sometime independent agents are more hungry than other. Get at least three or four quotes
2. Don't necessarily put your eggs in one basketl
3. Wife just spent 39 minutes with Tracfone because she could not complete the transaction on line, so that she could pay $22 for BIL's phone that is coming due. In contrast, I spent no more than ten minutes to order something from WM.

Weird stuff going on today.

Call your agent's office and speak to a human. Even if you have to do it on a work break, tell them you have limited time so they get as much information as they need. Really though, they know everything about you, they'll need your fiance's information, and the property address. That's all they need to get started. If they can't handle this, go elsewhere. Take your auto policies there too or at least quote it that way. You should get a multi-policy discount doing this.

Let me guess - State Farm ?
 
No, she has state farm, as do her parents, but I'd rather not use them. Heard far too many horror stories about the "good neighbor" folks, as well as the "good hands" ones.

Flo, the emu, the gecko, etc. all spend way too much on advertising, which generally translates to higher rates.

We're with Erie insurance. Great rated company that most haven't even heard of, as they don't spend a boatload on advertising...
 
Either go to your current agents physical office or go to an independent agent's office in person. Tell the agent the situation. Let them find potential policies for you.
 
After spending a day on the phone and in email a few years ago trying this myself, with very little success, I discovered the joys of a multi-line agent. She earns her keep every year when my rates get jacked up for no reason and I ask her to find somebody else.

When someone with Erie Insurance hit me (their fault), it was a nightmare. Had to get a lawyer involved. Erie is no better than any of the rest of them.
 
The problem with Erie is if you have a claim you're pretty much toast...
After all the good times end they won't even remember your name...
I do agree though it's best to ride out the cheap premiums.

I had them for over 30 years...

Pretty sure all of their agents are "independent" so they can sell you Erie or a multitude of others. I can tell you this: You can't call another Erie agent to try and get help, well, not if you tell them you're already with Erie. They don't allow agents to poach existing clients from other agents.

We've had Erie for YEARS. They're not as unheard of as you might think.

Again, call them.

This wasn't your existing agent ? Did you indicate in the email that you're a current policyholder ? Or wait, you're not a policy holder, your parents are, and you're just a driver in the household. In that case, I think you can go to any Erie agent.
