I was trying to find Havoline conventional in the local oil change facilities in my area as I do not change the oil myself on this vehicle since I don't own it. It's a company truck, and nobody around here in central Illinois stocks it. I called one place, and the manager said it's only found in the south and that is more know to be used with heavy equipment such as tractors.
Is that true that Havoline is associated with heavier equipment and why so?

no edit feature....go figure....
Why would it be associated with heavy equipment when they have teh 5w30 and 10/30, and even the newer 5/20 weights?

Man, Moss, Advanced Auto should have it by the boatload. Failing that, go with Chevron. Same base oil, lots of Moly, and for my car, the 5W20 Havoline seems pretty good, or as good as everything else I've put in it. Motor is nice and quiet, starts in the cold with just a bump, and never a tick-tock at start from cold. Truthfully, that's been the case with everything I've run in it. They must have left the yellow dye out of it because this is water-clear at the 1000 mile mark (and I just changed it a week ago tomorrow).

Yes, Advance has it, I was namely speaking about the oil change facilities around here that never stock it.

Chevron's refineries are on the coast and sadly you seem to be a long way from the coasts. That guy is confusing Havoline with Chevron Delo ( Diesel Equipment Light Oil) that is a great Hdeo and is marketed across the US. Havoline is marketed in a few more states than Chevron as Chevron bought Texaco and still markets a few Texaco products In states it does not market Chevron.

yep, nothing wrong with going with pennzoil as a top-notch substitute to havoline... Can you buy it in a store and bring it to the change facility for a refund on their change price? If so, you should be able to find it at the major chains/auto stores...
