I'd try your existing syringe on the car before you buy or disassemble anything. You lose nothing and you might save hassle, time, and money.

I dunno how much that "dedicated" syringe costs, but its not much different to an enema syringe. Last one I bought cost under a US dollar (can't remember exactly) with a bit of tubing that fit the bleed nipple.

Furthest first might expedite air exit a bit but I doubt there's much in it.

Does this sound reasonable? If I only loosen them a bit would the air be pushed out but not sucked back in?

Works fine, same as bleeding a caliper: Assistant in the car, depress brake pedal and hold, open line, close line, release pedal, repeat.

Brake fluid has gone to all the calipers and when the helper presses the pedal clean fluid comes out which is what is puzzling me (ie, no bubbles or anything)

I have to ask the obvious here, do we know the used Master Cylinder you installed is good?

How was that verified before it went into your car?

It is a second hand unit so no guarantees of course but it came out of a car that had working brakes...
I will bench bleed it and try to then bleed the brakes all over again.
I am hoping that with a bench bleed kit + very short tubes going into the fluid canister I should be able to complete the procedure without removing the BMC
