Has anyone used an Elring valve cover?

I was reading a post on a subreddit from a BMW Indy shop where they were suddenly having to warranty Elring VC's they installed within the previous 2 years. Someone also suggested that Mahle is the OE manufacturer of VCs for BMW.

Yes, it is Mahle. Aftermarket mahle was available in Europe for some time, not here.
Elring was next best bet. I know some folks who took a chance with Bavarian Autosport Valve cover, and no issues. Rein would be decent choice I guess.
I went OE VC when I broke my brake line and had to remove VC to do that. I just don't have time to experiment and don;t want to come back and do that job again.

I used a Mahle gasket, as it was all I could find locally after messing up installing the Elring (my fault).

About 1 year after it is showing signs of leaking.

Somebody already replaced the valve cover with a URO Parts branded one.

I was thinking maybe the PCV in the valve cover failed causing the gasket to leak and from the oil cap, but I do not hear any screeching or weird idle issues.

I think this is culprit, regardles whether is just and VC or bad PCV. Uro is bottom feeder product line.

I need a new valve cover most likely and the BMW one is $575

Yup I got the Elring one from RM European, they had the lowest price at the time. It's good quality and fit just like the OEM one. I've had zero issues with it in almost 2 years now.

Yeah, I saw a thread where someone posted a picture of their genuine valve cover and it shows that is made by mahle

Which makes sense, because I ordered a valvetronic motor gasket from FCP under the Genuine BMW and it said Mahle on it once I received it

Thanks, tempted to go Elring from RockAuto for $150 which has a 1 year warranty or the Rein which has a 2 year warranty

I used an Elring VC from Rockauto on my N55 last fall. I saw lots of recommendations for the Elring. Fit and install was perfect. Weight and "feel" was identical to the factory VC I removed (granted that does not speak to the behaviour of the PCV valve internals). No issues of any kind at this point, but it hasn't been very long. Especially up here in Canada, there was no beating the price/quality point even with Rockauto's international shipping.
