Does anyone follows the latest most talk about the Harvard-educated Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin ?

All major networks prime time news devoted at least few minutes showcase Jeremy Lin the last 2 weeks. Even late shows mentioned Linsanity. And POTUS mention him on the Marine helicopter on the way to airport.

There are many Lin videos on Youtube, some had been viewed by more than 1 million.

What do you think about this new NBA star ?

X2!! Every time I try to watch some so called news, I keep hearing about Linsanity. Who really cares? I didn't know being educated and playing basketball were mutually exclusive?

Locally everyone was all worked up over Cam Newton (Panthers). Every housewife in Huntersville had to have a "Cayum" Newton jersey.

I don't think it's good to obsess about people, especially people you don't know. Acknowledge and respect what they have done, but don't go insane over it.

It's based more on his rise from obscurity. He received no athletic scholarship offers out of high school and wasn't even drafted after college. Future NBA stars are usually very well known by the time they start college.

I don't really follow basketball, but this is a fairly interesting story. Maybe it has been blown out of proportion. I wouldn't know, since I don't really watch much mainstream television. I've just heard about him through Pardon the Interruption, a sports show I sometimes watch while killing time after walking the dog.

I don't know if this post will or will not stir heated debate about this kid and international media.

If Whitney Houston death can be posted on this forum, why not a good story about a bench warmer became star overnight should not be posted ?

Only 4 Harvard-graduated ever play in NBA while there was 8 became US President.

Its hyped up because hes Asian and was a total unknown undrafted player.

Not to be racist but this is one case where if he was black no one would talk about it.. or at least not a 10th as much.

just my 2 cents... and I'm white.. not that it matters.

edit: and good for him but this is the most overblown sports news manufactured thing since.. tebowism.

I am really struggling with this sentence. What are you attempting to convey?

He is also hyped because with all of the modern scouting etc. people don't come from no where anymore. Plus, two other NBA teams had him and cut him. He finally gets his chance and now a bunch of people who should have known look stupid.

Harvard is not known to have many NBA players, the last Harvard-graduated drafted by any NBA team was in 1950's, and only 4 from Harvard ever play professional basketball. Any good high school basketball player goes to colleges known for basketball program such as North Carolina, Kentucky ... I think Harvard is not in NCAA Division 1 basketball.

Harvard is known for education not sport programs, it produces Nobel prize winners, Presidents ...

Only four Harvard graduates have played in the NBA, while eight Harvard graduates have become US President.

Got it thanks!

This is the latest corporate media distraction of the month...
honestly who gives a darn.

So many REAL issues to deal with and this is what they choose to harp on. I wonder why?
