Harbor freight tools and Homier tools

Anyone been shopping at harbor freight or Homier tools? Real good prices on chinese made stuff. About anything I buy anymore comes from Harbor Freight unless Its something I use alot and I fear the HF tool will not hold up.

Screwdrivers I try to buy stanley.I got 3/4 socket set for $46. The same type set was $200 at sears.Big difference in price when you got a family.

I've bought a number of things from Harbor Freight. The quality is definitely good enough for occasional use, which describes most of my tools. I wouldn't buy anything from them that I use frequently or under a lot of stress. I have a torque wrench, impact wrench, air sockets, pressure washer and a number of other things. They've all performed fine.

I too shop at Harbor Freight. Got a tire changer, torque wrench, crows foot wrenches, all from them. Yes, they're all made in China, but the price is right.

Speaking of China, I can find few products these days that don't come from there.....

Most of their stuff is OK for occasional use. Likely a waste of money for hard, daily use items. The bolt in the tail pipe expander I bought stripped the first time I tried to use it. Luckily I was able to substitute an American made one.

On the either hand, and guy I was working with and I ran into an unexpected problem. I ran home and got my cheap Harbor Freight recip saw and took care of it. He was amazed I had a recip saw and said he couldn't afford one. I can't afford a Milwaukee either.

Best deal IF you have a HF locally:

20 ton press. On sale for $159! Much nicer than the 12 ton units, which cost more!

The pry bars OK, but drop one and the handle will shatter!

I got one of their 14x40 metal working lathes about 6 years ago. It's a good solid accurate lathe.

Even the stuff from China is of various quality.

Likely, some of the difference is based upon what the American firm demands in regards to specifications.

Yhe no-name hydraulic floor jack made in China and bought from Harbor Freight was junk. The Chinese-made version bought at Sam's Club with the AC/Delco label was of obvious better build quality using heftier materials, though both jacks had the same capacity rating.

I would have bought an American-made product but the price was much higher and since my good job went overseas I have had to cut waaaaaay back.

Most of my discretionary income pays for the health insurance my new employer doesn't provide.

Sure wish I was younger so I could go fight the elite class' foreign wars.

I bought some occasional use type stuff from HF too, pipe cutter to cut oil filters, timing light, compression tester, all around $10 ea. Other little items like a big C-clamp for working on brake calipers, and an 8lb hammer. Both appear to be heavy duty. Been happy, got the job done, nothing is broken, esp. the bank account.

I just bought those Bug Swatters only $2.99. I love to Zap them before they bite me.

I also bought some Kobault tools from Lowe's they seem to be pretty good.

i buy a few things now and then from harborfreight. You do have to watch what you buy, but for the most part it's all fair quality. Homier on the other hand- I had picked up some of their tools at a local sale a few years back, cordless drill and a 1/2" torque wrench are two I remember and the guts of the tq wrench head fell out after minimal use, it only got used on tire lugnuts a few times, and some boat engine things. The drill main shaft also developed a wobble if i remember and started to eat itself, but I do remember saying f'it and bought a $200 makita at home depot to replace it. That's all the experience i've had and will ever have with homier. You can't even look them up on the web.
