A little something that I penned this morning (cheesy in parts, but hopefully, it gives a smile or two):
Wishing a Happy New Year to all BITOG’ers both near and far,
Another year passes while we wonder which oil to use in the car.
Go 15,000 miles on synthetic? Nay, nay, go 5,000 with a good dino,
In the end it won’t matter because the effects are only a placebo.
Alas, we’ve seen more than our share of trolls, shysters, and shills,
Will Autozone, Amazon, or Walmart ever really give us that deal?
Filters? What can be said other than the discussions can be major,
But then again, friends don’t let friends buy or use a Tearolator!
We chat about turbos, gassers, diesels—most anything with a crank,
Woah, don’t you know xW-20 is far too thin, well…unless you’re a Yank.
Black and made of rubber, they make the wheels go round and round,
As soon as Michelin is mentioned, the thread usually runs aground.
Use it straight out of the bottle or make a home-brewed concoction?
There could be strength in both, but don’t ask, use your best deduction.
Some brands gain notoriety, but some go down in flames,
Especially those with M1, Marvel, or Lucas in their names.
Much like a neglected engine, tonight our heads may be filled with sludge,
Convincing one of us to change habits is like coaxing a mountain to budge.
Speaking of sludge, what’s the best cleaner and dissolve it fast or slow?
If only you’d followed the proper routine there’d never be a need to know.
Yes, advice is frequently sought and often given at an equitable price,
Indeed, even for the strangest of threads, like the one dealing with mice.
AAP, API, MMO, OCI, OCD, just acronyms hoping to save some space,
Many stashes are gathered and eventually need a much bigger place.
As we look back on the discussions that took place over the past year,
Tons of knowledge and lore was shared and for that we can all cheer.
There are many forums on the web, but this one is quite unique,
Oils from every corner are discussed even those from a boutique.
Should I change it now or wait until sometime in sixteen?
This could be the daily question—it is seen with routine.
But enough about oil, engines, and all things of lubrication,
Although it may be hard to do as it is our total fixation.
Well, friends, my tale is nearly told and my yarn is almost spent,
We've waltzed through my mind and the memories that I present.
Happiness, peace, health, stability are all my wishes for you,
Happy New Year I wish to all and with that I bid you adieu!
“See” you all in 2016! Have a safe and Happy New Year!
