Oh. I feel insulted. I was called a name. Maybe I should just go ahead and whine to a mod like people on this forum are keen to do. Maybe you need a vacation to learn how to address others without using profanity.

An interesting thing, that. I was one of half a dozen or so to graduate from the program I chose, on time. However, to be fair, many people at least as smart as myself did not. They just choked on tests. My point here being, that graduation order or rank, isn't necessarily indicative of the things many might associate it with. My graduation rank wasn't very high, precluding the above, even, but I probably earn within the top 5% of people in my field, adjusted for COL/Location, so there's that to consider. Basically...your insult is amusing and very "reaching".

To bring this all back around, I did enjoy my 1988 GT part of my college life before giving it to my father. Porno red interior and all, lol!

Eta: A Ws6 is what I got when I moved on from my 1988 GT. This IS a vehicle forum, and all...

Happy birthday to the original Pony car, Without it.....GM may not have developed the F-Body? I had a 1983 Fox Body with a warmed over 4bbl 302/T5 for a little while, It was a fun toy, Not particularly fast in today's terms....But fun nonetheless!

I grow frustrated with GM. It's like the mustang comes out with an update every decade or so, and GM resurrects the FBody and wrecks the Mustang and then discontinued the Fbody again, lol!

Here's my 98GT I'll be getting out for the first drive of 2020 today 🤞

Back in 1964 I was 7 and my dad bought one of the first new Mustangs in Kentucky. Black over red with the 260 V8. He later bought a new 1967 notchback and a new 1970 Grande. My uncle worked at Ford and had several Mustangs, the most memorable being a burgundy 1966 GT with a manual and the High Performance 289. I also remember lusting after a GT500, a Mach 1, and a Boss 429 on the showroom floor at my local dealer when Dad took his cars in for service. Today I wouldn't mind having a Bullitt in my garage- for me it's the only Mustang I'd really enjoy if I wasn't tracking it. I'd get a GT350 for track duty.

I was just fortunate enough to get some seat time in a new GT350 Stang.

Very Impressive, if you like a responsive machine this is a nice choice. A little too loud and raucous for an everyday driver for an older fella like me.

My FIL was a collector for decades, has sold them all now to downsize from his 22 car garage to his 5 vehicle personal stash today.

I really have always seen them as a lot less than this last generation....

Mustang's Birthday; Not 50th or the 60th, but 56.

Wow ! Big Deal. Mr. Heinz say wait till 57 to celebrate.
________________

My Mom. had a '67 that dad bought her when her 1959 Triumph Herald was given to my brother to drive at college.

This is arguably the best looking year.

It was a very pretty white with black convertible top, a six banger and a 3 (or 4) speed on the floor.
Very basic but "sporty" looking. I remember being intrigued by the split glass window in the rear that had some polymer
hinge across the center. I sad to myself, how long is this going to last. Well we only kept the car for a year.
It had a radiator leak the dealer refused to fix (?!) so dad got mad and sold it. I think we were down to one car then. Then he got the "itch for a real sports car , and he was bringing home Triumphs and Opel GT's and Saabs and even a Used Porsche 914.

My Mom rejected them all, at this time she was into the Large luxury Barge convertibles. We Already had a 1965 Electra convertible in all white. I called it the Great Gatsby Mobile. Great , great car.

Regardless, my Dad ended up with a Saab Sonett III for about 6 months and then traded that on another Electra 225.
That Saab was a very unique car. Ultra light glass-fibre body with a v4 ford engine and a special lever on the floor that would disco the trans from the motor when you let off the gas so you could freewheel for better fuel. mileage. That car had a very unique smell, I think due to the adhesives used in its construction. I also recall the rear beam axle limiter straps were leather belts (!)

This next Buick Electra was a 455. That car was like a 3/4 ton truck with a car body on it. Pretty indestructible with the TH400, but really a bit bland personality wise; The 1965 was a better car just for its "car-ness"
I now realize The 60's was the greatest years for most all cars.

My Fav mustang was the Mustang II King Cobra. That thing drove and handled well, was light and finished like a Jewell (thanks Lee Iacocca!) I've owned a handful of NEW fox bodies, and they have all been plagued with problems - ignoring their poor handling. But at least they were cheap to buy, except my last one which was a 2001 Bullitt. The current 'stang.doesnt entice me at all.

I'm a Chevy and Buick guy, but I'm glad there was a Ford Mustang. I couldn't imagine a World without it.

Guess I will put my 2 cents in. I was working at a Ford dealership as a mechanic in 65, so got to see and drive lots of them brand new. Weird thing is that I was driving a 64 chevelle at the time. At the time I was actually a chevy guy, but worked in all makes. Over the years I owned many makes of cars/trucks, but my first mustang was actually about 12 years ago when I bought a really nice 65 base model. Then a few years ago, I bought an 05 for my daily driver, but it became to much trouble to climb out of at my age, so sold it and got a four door pickup. Just this spring I bought a 98 mustang with only 78k miles on it so that I have a cruiser car with all the power stuff which my 65 doesn't have.

Munich has copied Ford's Mustang strategy more than once; the E24 6 Series was a long hood/short deck coupe based on the E12 5 Series sedan platform, and my M235i is a short-coupled coupe based on the F20/F21 1 Series hatch that never made it across the pond.

The problem was the 5th Gen Camaro was a flop. No headroom or visibility and the awful V-6 engine they used as a base motor. Mustang and Challenger are better looking to boot. When GM came out with the Gen 6 it looked like the 5th that flopped. No headroom or visibility with that too. That being said, I'm a GM man. Maybe they can come out with a Chevelle or something that looks decent and has some room in it.
