A few car buff buddies and I had this discussion, and we had some interesting yet different views. Your prized car sits in the garage and is dirty, perfect weather for washing it. You really have nowhere to drive until 8 hours later. Do you pull the car out of the garage to do your washing and drying, then put it back in the garage and give it that good drive 10 hours later. Or do you drive it after you wash it for 20-30 minutes to get it good and hot, then park it, and drive it on that trip you planned on taking it on 8 hours later?

Maybe its just me but this discussion went on for an entire lunch break. I'd be interested in the Bitog opinions.

I would drive it after a wash because it gets the moisture out of the areas that you can't dry by hand.

Best way to do it IMO.

That was one side of the discussion, good and hot to burn off any thing in the engine from starting up the car and moving it a few meters out of the garage to wash it. Then starting it up again to put it back in the garage. Then there was the fact that the car was washed and put away, with the underside, brakes etc being wet. Just looking for Bitog views.

just push it out of the garage and then push it back in. of course, if you have an ultimate garage, with tile floor, heated water with floor drains - you simply wash it IN the garage.

you guys must really be bored!

My thoughts. This is something I never gave much thought to. I would probably start it up, back it out of the garage, wash it, than pull it back into the garage. After that I will probably go back in the house and try to diddle momma, or surf the web until I have to leave to go on my trip.

It's been pretty bad since the club we frequented closed.

I drive it around the neighborhood for a few minutes after a wash to prevent rotor surface rust and to blow the water out of the mirrors and out from behind the trim pieces.

It really is amazing how when a few car buffs get together they really can talk about something that amounts to nothing.

No truer words! I wash my car in the evenings when the sun is in the west and my driveway is all shaded over, after drying i'll give the whole car a once over with a clean leaf blower to get all the water out of the nooks and crannys and give it a final wipe down with a MF and then she's rolled back into the garage.
