Just wondering whether I should let the grass grow a bit more and recover from the winter or whether it's ok to start mowing it already... it's not too high yet, so I guess I could wait another week.

I was about to, all of a sudden the weather took a nose dive yesterday!

All my neighbors did theirs last week, but I refuse to until April 15. I say let it grow some.

I will start mowing around May 1. Putting down the first fertilizer application next week.
Don't hurt to let it grow as most people mow it much shorter than it should be mowed anyway.
We mow so it is about 2 inches high after mowing. Requires less water that way.

My leach field could use a mow, but we've had so much rain the past week, the ground is pretty mushy.
Mowed first time yesterday. Was very thick and wet. Clogged the discharge chute on the tractor several times.
Last week, and maybe tomorrow.
Next week sometime. I just rebuild my Kohler K241 this winter and I'm giddy to see how it goes cutting grass!
Got the older mower out of the garage.
I am contmplating getting started any time now.
Parts of the lawn are really high, and cutting it will also mulch in the leaves and twigs that are lying all over.
Also, there are some sections I want to overseed, so I'll cut first, then throw seed.

Just finished with what needed to be mowed.
I had a very pleasant surprise in that the old dear (I am really thinking of a word for a child born outside of matrimony) started on the first pull.
It was even a half-hearted pull, since I wanted to give her a few pulls to splash a little oil around before actually starting her.
Amazing how well an old Tecuseh can do with no more than the new plug I put in it last fall, along with Proline 40W (real cheap after MIR a couple of years ago) and a can of fuel left from last year.
