Gunk Valve medic, what is it?

I bought a yellow bottle of Gunk valve medic, a year ago. It seems to be some kinda solvent/enigine flush or something. It says to add to crankcase oil, and immediatly drive for at least 30 minutes, and thats it. Is this something youde drive for a few miles, then drain oil? Or leave in as an oil additive? Says it frees up stuck lifters and valves, melts sludge adn carbon, ect. Curious abou it. It sounds like something DANGZEROUS to leave in the crankcase!

It comes in a 16 oz bottle i belive.

I would say to forget about using it. The bulk of oil additives are worthless and may cause harm. If you want better additives then buy synthetic oil.

It's probably just kerosene or some other solvent. I wouldn't use it myself.

Actually, it is mostly diesel fuel!
CAS # 68476-34-6 = ~90% with some other solvents.

Treat it like a flush product. Run it in your engine for whatever time you want and then change the oil/filter.

Hah, well now that reminds me, one time I was coming out of Canadian Tire and I saw a guy pouring some Wynn's engine tune up into an older diesel Benz. Would probably have been cheaper just to suck some diesel from his tank and use that instead.

So, its basially an engine flush? Thats what my gut instinct was telling me. It didnt sound right, to leave it in the enigne, for a 3,000 mile oil interval!
So, its basically something that ide pour in, and let car idle for 15 minutes? Or could i actually go driving after pouring in crankcase, for about 30 minutes, then do an oil change, and not fear something breaking in engine?
