Going off on a tangent, but my shooting buddy/instructor showed up on a range day with a 38 Special Colt DS and tried to make this .45 ACP lover shoot it using the reasoning it's a backup piece. After not a small amount of grumbling, I gave it a try. That darned gun felt like an an extention of my arm. The bullets went exactly where I willed them.I found Rem Oil useful once. Used several drops of it on my trusty Colt Detectives Special Second issue I kept in our beach house...
It shot so well I came to the conclusion I needed one. Took me about 12 years (I'm guessing the timeline) to find one in very good condition. Darned things had become collector's pieces.
