Just looking at the msds's of SI-1 and Chevron I can see the PEA. The Regane has completely different chemicals. Now I'm no chemical engineer and really probably don't know what I'm looking at, but is the Regane still mainly PEA? I've also noticed it's cheaper than the others and read where it seem most have better luck with the other 2.

Probably, but don't expect any answers from Shell on the matter:

PEA, used as an engine cleaner, is a real big trade secret now.

The question to be asked is whether or not it is required to be listed.

Best statement on the board. It only makes sense to use a product that actually has the PEA listed.

Btw- Techron lists no PEA in their MSDS

That is, just because it's not listed, doesn't mean that it's not there.

Look at the Canadian Techron MSDS which reveals the Trade Secret is the PEA.

I really don't understand WHY Gumout would NOT want to make it public knowledge about their use of PEA as it is the most effective gasoline detergent. Period! Could it be that Chevron has legally required Shell NOT to be able to list the ingredient because of a patent or something.

I'll be calling Shell and asking them about whether or not PEA is in their product. If they won't answer yes, I won't be buying it any longer.

50% volume with the same effectiveness.
the old Regane has 30-40% PEA. So, they have 71% less Kerosene in the new bottles. Assume 30% volume is PEA, than 20% is Kerosene, total volume 50% of old packages.

I bought the high mileage version of Gumout Regane fuel system cleaner this past weekend, I wonder if it has a higher amount of PEA in it than the regular version? I hope so, it was $2 more! ($14.99 vs $12.99 up here)

Wow it's expensive in Canada. Can you get Red Line SI-1 up there for a similar price?

I bought two bottles of Redline Si-1 a few weeks ago for $6 each, although the regular price here is $10.99.

After running two bottles of Redline through my tank I'm still getting pinging, so I figured I'd try the Gumout stuff to see if it'll clean out the combustion chamber a little more.

Well that was a good deal on the Redline so I guess it balances out. Good luck with the pinging. Hopefully this will work for you.

If it doesn't work I'll just go back to using 94 octane. With the money I have spent on additives so far it could've paid for the extra cost of 94 vs 91 for a few months!
