First off, I did use the search feature but did not come up with any info on Gulf motor oil. The reason I am asking is that due to a neck injury, I could not change my own oil this time around and being that I was having the annual state inspection done on my 2007 Camry in a local Gulf service station, I had them change the oil & filter and rotate the tires. I had noticed NAPA oil cases in the service area and figured that is the oil they used but when it was time to add the new oil, the mechanic got a new case of Gulf 5w-20 from a storage room and used that with a NAPA Gold filter. Well after all this rambling, anyone familiar with Gulf oils or any opinions? The Gulf web site wasn't too helpful. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Johnny. I noticed in reading the American Refinery product specs on 5w-20 oil that it states it is suitable for Honda service fill, not mentioning Ford. Does that mean it does not meet the Ford specs?

I have not seen a Gulf Station in over 35 years from Miami to N.Y.C..I thought they were bought up by another company..In fact I never have seen Gulf oil on the shelves anywhere..

What a surprise when I saw this post!

Down your way Cumberland Farms sold Gulf fuel. Don't remember if they also carried Gulf oils (probably not). I have only seen Gulf stations in the northeast lately.

At the moment I am using GulfTec Syn Blend 10w30 in my Jeep. I would like to say that it seems to have inproved my gas mileage 1.5 ~2 mpg but I changed the plugs and ran a cumbustion chamber cleaner through it which I'm sure helped. I have also posted VOA on GulfTec it you would like to take a look. I thinks it is Good oil there 5w30 fuel eff. oil seems to be of good or better thatn good quality if the MSDS is any indication. Unfortunetly I have never seen this oil sold in ANY Gulf station but it is avaiable through GH Berlin dist. and Pathmark supermarket lol yes Pathmark. If you tend to use Gulf gas they have a gas card through there web sight that I thinks will give a % off all gas purchases.

Gulf's brand in the US is owned by Cumberland Farms now. Chevron bought them out and then spun off the name to license out, and it really has nothing to do with the former Gulf Oil. It's Gulf in name only.

Locally, the Gulf distributer changed to BP. I always thought that BP had bought out Gulf. No reason other than first statement.
