How good is Gulf oil?

Any input on Gulf oil? The local service station where I go for state inspections and things I can't do myself (which isn't much) just switched from Texaco to Gulf. They told me that Texaco was going to quit making gasoline so they had to find another company. I change my own oil 99.9% of the time but if this winter is like last year, there might be a time where it's too darned cold or snowy to do it myself. I did a Search but didn't come up with much. Thanks.

At first glance, the Gulf conventionals appear unexceptional, with low flashpoints (bad) and relatively high TBNs (good) standing out. You can compare the Gulf spec's with spec's from other brands here:

EDIT: I followed the link in that 2001 article, and it appears that it has already gone away. Who knows who is marketing this oil these days.

EDIT #2: Ahhh... followed the link posted above... looks like it is being produced exclusively by the former Kendall boys up the road in Bradford, PA.
