Wife bought some Guinness to make a corn beef and cabbage meal in the crock pot. I was looking at the bottles and spied that the Guinness we got was brewed in New Brunswick Canada. The label said it was "imported" and proudly displayed it's Irish origins. I guess coming from Canada it is technically imported. I've been to the Guinness brewery in Dublin many times and worked in Ireland so I know true Irish Guinness. With any beer/stout anything bottled is never the same as from the "tap".

Happy Saint Patricks Day to all!

According to www.guinness.com, Guinness for the North American market has been brewed in Canada since the year 2000. That's also the last year for imports from Ireland.

It seems Guinness in North America is brewed by AB InBev, in a plant operated by InBev-owned Labatt's, under license from Guinness in Ireland. Labatt's operates a giant plant in London, Ontario. A large number of brands and brews are made there, and that's probably where the Guinness comes from.

I like Guinness, by the way. Happy St. Paddy's Day; I'm going to celebrate by getting tanked and beating up some Englishmen.

Ah, no! It is of Irish origin from 1759. As I said I've been to original brewery in Dublin multiple times.

I understand that Rolling Rock will soon be brewed in the London, Ontario plant as well.

And the Sapporo, Kirin, and Tsing Tao brands are all "Asian"; Tsing Tao is CHINESE.

Maybe since it's Germanic tasting like Carta Blanca and Pacifico? Up hear we drink Harpoon Ale and Ipswich Ale in the lil brown jug.

Löwenbräu made in USA is not worth buying, far from the original. Smaller US breweries are fine. For the real Bud try Czechwar, that's where it was started. Belgian beer is ueber alles, of course.
Irish Guinness is different.

The bottled 11.2 oz Guinness Draught I am drinking right now states clearly on the bottle that is is brewed in Ireland...FWIW

Yeah, Guinnes in Oz is Carlton United Breweries (Fosters, now Miller)

Guiness??!?

Should have bought some Samuel Smith's. Granted it is English, but oh so tasty...
