The newer 0w30 sold in the US is no where near the same as the German 0w30, check out the German domestic products, the 0w30 in a different class spec wise.

Nope, 0W30 sold here is still PAO based. What you seeing in Germany is lower-SAPS version. They are not bringing it here since our gas is not ULSG (well from 01/01/2017 it should be according to EPA).
Based on 0W30 BC numbers, it is PAO based.
