Grease lube for lawnmower!!!!!

Can I use grease lube to oil the underside of my lawnmower for protection from rust while lubricating it at the same time. I think its better than liquid lubricates because it would protect and stay on the surface much longer than liquid lubricates. Yes or no. If not any suggestions.

What are you trying to lubricate?

I'd try sanding and painting for rust protection.

what under there are you trying to lube? Ball bearing wheels?

Ive heard that fluid film is an excellent way to protect the deck.

once you cut the grass, the grease will act like a glue and you'll have grass clippings sticking to the grease and building up. Then if you hose out the underside to get the grass off you'll wash off the grease along with having an oil slick wherever you do and then be back at square one.
Painting sounds like a much better idea, after all that is the purpose of paint. Find some self-etch primer from an auto store and use that after cleaning the deck and prior to painting, that will promote best paint adhesion and also stay on there and prevent rust.

Is there something special about this lawnmower that would require one to want to extend the life of the deck beyond the twenty to thirty years they normally last? If not, why bother?

If you are that enamoured by the mower, dis-assemble it and take the deck to a paint shop to be sand blasted then have the deck powder coated. If you're, really, really in love with the mower, get the deck ceramic coated.

Just keep it dry/clean every month or so in the cutting season...

It also depends on your deck. If its a Deere from the dealer then they are very heavy and will outlast you. If a Sears, etc then they are not made to last(very thin material)...
