Grease gun coupler

Ok apparently with my luck i am the only one with this problem, I use a pump lever grease gun often ,mower deck spindles,loader/backhoe etc ,Sometimes twice a year i have to replace the coupler (that clicks onto the grease zerks) Even though it clicks on grease comes out of the coupler in blobs ,How can this wear out ? it looks like there is 3 little sleeves in the end are they adjustable? ,,,,and no grease fittings are plugged to cause this

Unscrew the coupler a bit in order to get a better fit on the zerk. Having it screwed on tight doesn't allow it to properly connect to the zerk.

No go ,The grease comes out the threads where it connects to the flex hose also ,I just bought 2 new ones at a swap meet today ,I just cant believe these things could wear out

When I was a grease in maintenance I use to go through two or three grease gun heads a year.
