Grease for brakes ?

Hi,

Any recommendations on easily available grease for metal to metal on brakes ... like brake pads guides/sliders

I picked up Amazon Silicone for sliding pin / boot

MotoMaster Moly Extreme Pressure Grease, 400 grams tube of this 6$ would be this be suitable

There is Ultraslick available as well,
Or Permatex Red Lube for brakes

I use CRC Brake & Caliper Grease. Available most auto parts stores.

Hello:

Brake applications get far to hot for non-specialized lubricants. Both CRC and Permatex have caliper lubricants. I have used Permatex products with complete success so they would be my choice. CRC no doubt is effective also.

Antiseize does not flow in cold weather...Pads will stick...Use Siperlube

I would avoid using any mineral oil based grease on sliding pins that use rubber boots and a slide pin bushing like on Toyota vehicles. That kind of grease will damage rubber boots. I have also found that most of the goopy Permatex brake greases will also damage boots and pin bushings. I used the goopy Permatex green **** and it swelled the pin bushing so bad I almost couldn't remove the pin. CRC 's new type ceramic brake grease might be a good choice.

Sounds like the OP is looking at lubing the brake pad ears/tabs/sliders or whatever you want to call them- the part of the pad which touches and slides against the caliper bracket. I was looking at this a little while ago when I did my truck brakes. Typically I had just used whatever I was using on the caliper pins, normally either sil-glyde or motorcraft xg-3a. Well, after a lot of reading I decided to used a moly paste compound called jet-Lube MP-50. Supposed to be very temperature stable (after all the lubricating component is moly) and virtually wash out proof. Is it the best option? Or even a decent option? Well, I don't know yet as the brake pads, rotors and all hardware was brand new and wasn't installed that long ago to notice a difference yet.

Silaramic on some mating surfaces, 3m 100% silicone grease on the others.

That's also what I use. Works great never any issues. Do make sure you clean out the brakes before using.

you just use it on all the brake parts. No need for 2 or 3 different things.

I bought recently that silicone grease with PTFE ( I dont know if it is available in USA).....

"Suitable for lubrication between all combinations of plastic, metal and rubber. The grease is specially recommended for the lubrication of brake components and for eliminating noises in that area"

I have used this stuff for the booted slide pins for years. A can will last a home user for years.

Actually I bought some jet lube anti sieze ... After you mentioned the brand seems like they make some great products !
