anyone here into curries? im not middle eastern but i am chinese and it is a dish in chinese cuisine but not a mainstay, i don't care for the thai style when they stir in coconut milk and ive never tried any middle eastern curry dishes or green curry for that matter. im just acustomed to the yellow curry made into a stew like meal. just wondering because i was at my moms tonight and she made some pretty kickin curry with lamb ribs, it was awesome.

No curry in India but I love them always home made except for the occasional foray to Bharat International for the red kidney bean 'curry' or the chickpea 'curry' or Allo Ghobi. Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Malay you name it I'd eat it every day. We get a lot of spices from Mudgeeraba Spices and Curry Blends who visit Canberra every year for Floriade. 59 spice blends and shipped o'seas.

Used to spend almost an entire day making authentic Indian, and loved the results...not enough time these days, and the family won't touch it if I cook it (home setting), versus demolishing it in a restaurant.

Curried Snags is a rare treat (that the family won't touch either), so I make it Sunday, and have for work lunches until Wednesday. I like to add raisins and apple to them.

I love the Thai curry that I get at a local place. I don't think I've ever had any Indian curry.

So many here they even had two in my are next door to each other. One finally moved to larger premises. Indian vying with Turkish for most outlets of ethnic food with the ubiquitous Chinese of course.

Looks good.

Our family outings usually involve

entrees
Vegetable pakora
tandoor Chicken
Vegetable samosa

main
Chicken Mahkni
Lamb saag
Something Korma

Garlic Naan and paratha to mop up

Even my Dad will eat that stuff.

I'll take one of all the above!

you just named off the "usual" that my group orders when we go out to the indian restraunt.

I like the lamb saag extra spicy

Here about 90% of the restaurants are Chinese or Mexican.

My town (10,000 people), when I moved in had 9 Chinese restaurants (8 on main street), 10 pubs serving "counter meals" (8 on main street), a pizza shop, 3 fish and chip shops, and 3 "contemporary restaurant".

A couple pubs closed down, a couple restaurants closed and new opened, a Thai evolved, and in the meantime there have been three attempts at getting Indian to take off...the first two (really good) went broke very quickly. They current one is surviving on a takeaway customer base (fairly reasonable food, but when you go to the dunny, you oft see the cooks smoking in the kitchen confines).

Arjuna's at Katoomba is worth the 40 minute drive.

A restaurant with an outhouse? Next to the kitchen?
