The manager's job is to SELL, SELL, SELL oils and services that's why his "obligatory" 3k OCI even for synthetics... By the other hand BMW's job is to sell new cars and a car requiring so little maintainance (OCIs of 15k!) would be very attractive for most costumers - that's why their 15k OCI recomendation... Which car maker wants cars that last too long?..In this case I'd rather follow manager's recomendation and don't stretch OCI too long (15k!), prefering my car to last even after the warranty's gone.

Gramps took his Suburban to Walmart for an oil change, they came out about 10 minutes later and said the drain plug was stripped out and they couldn't do the service. When argued with they told us they check the drain plug to see if it can be tightened before they start. So they tighten already tight bolts and then go to far and strip them out and then blame the customer.

That was a fun day.
