Goodbye Toyota T-IV, hello...

Castrol Import Vehicle ATF. Did a 3X drain & fill and my Highlander loves it.

I used to get a jolt from the transmission when switching from neutral to drive. The Castrol ATF has completely eliminated this. The T-IV was drained & filled every 40k so its not like it was in poor shape.

So for half the price of Toyota T-IV, I can afford to do more frequent drain & fills.

Can anyone prove that T-IV changed every 48k will last longer than Castrol ATF changed every 24k?

Maybe your transmission is slipping now.

lets see how much your highlander loves it after a few thousands miles. every time i replace new transmission fluid, the jolt seems to disappear for a little but comes back later. report back.

I have always used Mobil 1 ATF always have and still do. Still no problems!Looks like most transmissions are preety forgiveing about their ATF. So far the only automatics I have ran into that where real picky are some Chrysler automatics and some Mitsubishi automatics. Even then it has not been all of these manufactures products just a few. GM and Toyota transmissions seem to be happy with almost anything you toss in them!

I had thought about using that (matter of fact even bought 12 quarts to flush!) in my HL when I first bought it because the fluid was nasty, and probably never been changed in 75,000 miles. What scared me away was looking at the MSDS sheets... the stuff looks awful thick! I decided to stick with T-IV for now because I got it for about half price through a friend of mine... but Yes, please report back!

Why would you run Dex VI where T-IV is called for?

Because it lists toyota T-IV and the WS spec on the bottle.
