U can back flush the system with a garden hose which is an awesome benefit. Just hook up, open the valve, pop out your crank case breather and turn on the garden hose til it pushes the old oil out of the valve cover
And for the worriers in the crowd, you could 'secure' the lever in the closed position using a long twist tie, a zip tie (though kind of a nuisance and quite an expense to have to keep replacing them) or even a bungee cord.

I would put in a control via a cable with steel wire inside the cable (like a choke control for OPE) so you can open and close it from the drivers seat.

Drill a hole in the end of the lever (before you install it) and use some mechanic's wire to secure it in the closed position between oil changes.
