I dunno, [censored].. Problem is, the book tells you to use a "high quality ethylene glycol" coolant, and that's it. That means use anything. While I respect all the coolants myself (I did 288K in my last Elantra, a 92 on DexCool with superior results), when I got my 05 Accent new in Feb. 06, the stuff in there was a snotty concoction of something nasty, probably old silicate, but the dealer and consumer affairs refuse or are unable/ignorant as to the formulation of Hyundai coolants.
So, I swapped out to G05 the first week I had it. Did the distilled flush thang, 6 or 8 refills until crystal clear and then 60/40 G05. At 40K, new water pump, factory original was leaking. They didn't blame coolant (they didn't even notice it was different for all I know), they just said coincidence. They stuck old snotty green back in, I changed it out to Prestone all makes, and now, at 58K, new water pump with my timing belt change, it's leaking. 2 pumps, 58K. Warranty repairs, but still..
I think I'm gonna leave the dealer syrup in it this time, I'm not having much luck in the aftermarket coolant department. Of course, this car has turned out to be such a piece of krapp with the check engine lights, bad alternator and a million other things, it could just be I got a lemon.
Not that the factory or any dealer I've taken it to care.
