i do know how to use a high speed buffer, but never knew a good one.

any ideas on a good brand and price? im looking lower than 120 bucks.

id like to use foam pads with the velcrow back things so i can swap out pads easilly.

there is this shop here that has a nice buffer varible speed i think for like 120, with 3 pads.

any ideas?

I have a Porter Cable 7424 and I absolutley love it. If you're looking to spend around $120, you can get a 7424 from Coastal Tool .

However, you'll still need to get a velcro backing plate and you should also get a 6" counterweight too. I know this will cost over a $120 and more like $160+ but it is well worth the investment.

I've also seen used PC 7424's on eBay from time to time.

If you want an orbital, I suggest getting a porter cable 7424.

As far as a high speed rotary, I would go with a makita 9227c or the dewalt(dont know the model #).

there are some that are paint burn-proof, aka, if you press too hard, they give way and the motor continues to turn but the buffer stops. Very useful if youre not really skilled with an orbital.

whats the diff between the makita and the porter cable?

i really like one with a velcro backing, cause those are like 25 for it. and its more money worth.

im going to go to that store tomorrow and see what kind of buffer they got for sale for 120.

on my polisher/sander, i have a backing plate that is mounted by this thread post. i tried to twist it off so i can go buy a backing plate with velcro. but man it wont budge, i used bolt breaker too and it just wont turn. i counter it with this tiny hole but i donno which way or know how to get it off! err

i just found out the local shop here has the buffer for 120 with some pads but its made by vector. it seems well built but im not sure how good it is.
this is vector, exact one these rip offs are selling, man on ebay its mad cheap
