Going back to 5w20

Long story short, I no longer have the corolla. On my shelf I have almost 8 gallons of 5w20. I was going to use it in my truck (f150 5.4 3v) but I've been using 5w30 for a long time. I know it's safe, but it's hard to go back lol
The lower High Temperature High Sheer of 20 weight oils, and googling HTHS wear graph had caused me years ago to permanently (and forever) switch my vehicles to 5W-30.

But if I had 8 jugs of 5W-20 laying around, and my vehicles were speced for 5W-20, I would use them up to save the money. There are so many of those Ford LTD taxi cabs in small towns that have 400,000 miles that were on 5W-20 since new.

Don’t understand the idea of an ABC multivis being mixed with XYZ multivis expecting a predictable outcome. If I wanted to bump up the vis on an XW20 - I’d just use SAE30 that’s SP - and just summer time if one lives where it’s too cold for that … or, EC30/EC40 at 20-25% for a slight bump …

5w20 isn't optimal for the 3v 5.4. It needs a HV oil pump if you insist on 5w20.
Paging Cujet!
It did fine on 5w20 when i first got it. I didn't change to 30 until about a year later. Mine is the updated 5.4 with at least one revision to the timing set. The only real reason i didn't like the 20 is that it burns off. I lost about 1qt every 4-5k miles.

Just don’t try to sell it on here… I made that mistake once. Never again.
Agree!... and here's an example:
The Amsoil I purchased sells for $16.99 qt near me.
I purchased it elsewhere online for $13.25 (free shipping)
A BITOG Member was upset when I wouldn't sell the 13 remaining quarts I had for $8 a-piece. I originally PM'ed him prior stating I was firm on $10 a-piece.

Keeping friends here is more important to me than lasting coldness. My sale wasn't about the money, because I can afford to give those 13 free to an auto-shop and sleep well the same night.

I asked $8 a-piece for (6) five quart jugs of Castro Edge Euro 5w40s and the language in my direct contact with the buyer was not pretty when I refused his final offer for $3 per five quart jug.
Another wanted the Castrol for $8 but wanted them delivered 250 miles away to him (at my cost).

I would use it and change it at 5000 miles.
If I planned on using them, I would not had listed them for sale.

In the past, I have used 5w20 multiple times, where 5w30 and 10w30 Owners Manual applications exist.
No harm done.... well... except one time.

My 1999 Chevy P/U with 4.3 V6 shed many silvery shavings on it's oil pan's magnetic drain bolt at 4k OCI, approx about 10 years later (100k mileage). Recommended oil is 5/10w-30.
My grandson's 2004 Chevy Colorado P/U 3.5 five cylinder didn't use any 0w20 in it's 5k OCI, where Owners Manual recommends 5w30. That shocked me, having owned the vehicle for 16 years prior to donating it to him for the past four years.

Some people get off on haggling. A fair deal just isn’t good enough. They have to get over on someone or it isn’t worth it.
