GM top end cleaner down spark plug holes

Any danger in doing this to an old car? Could GM be too harsh? I do plan on changing the oil immediately afterwards. My mechanic says that you don't need to use too much (i'll let him do it).

I've done most everthing i could do with my smoker other than swap and rebuild. The only thing left is a piston soak. I was thinking that i'd use GM top end cleaner as opposed to marvel mystery oil. I'd drip in down the spark plug holes and let it soak overnight.

(i've already AutoRx'd used thicker oil, checked the pcv, etc. my car has worn rings/blwoby)

it would be useful to know make,year,engine.
a soak might help a saturn but not a mitsubishi 3.0

I've tried GM TEC on carbon. It does nothing. About the only thing it's good for is fuel deposits on a carbed engine. It s worthless on a FI engine, it dilutes the oil and damages o2 sensors.

Could GM TEC piston soak hurt anyting? I don't want to make a problem worse.

I have a 91 honda civic DX with the 1.5L D series engine (stock DPFI, non VTEC); 200,000 miles on engine. The car has worn rings and blowby.

I already did AutoRx and had a dramatic difference. The engine was obviously sludged up. I'm now thinking about cleaning the areas which Auto Rx didn't come in contact with.

The question is do you have crud around the rings so they cannot seal properly in which case AutoRx can help, and maybe already has, or do you have worn rings and/or cylinder walls in which case the only solution is replacing the rings or a rebuild. Have you done a compression test so you know its not a burned valve?

It's my understanding that AutoRx does not find it's way directly in to the combustion chamber as GM TEC or MMO poured down the spark plug hole will. In other words i've already cleaned from the bottom end and now i want to make sure the top end is clean also.

Or the other option is keep driving the car with worn rings & cylinders and manage it. The rings are worn but not completely gone. Meaning the engine still performs fairly well, IMHO.

(i recently got very lucky with installing a used trans for very little $$$. So, to me, the car is running very good -- even with the blowby.

I have not done a compression test. But I've been looking at this for some time. I believe oil to be getting past the rings. I believe a burnt valve would create a lot of smoke in the morning when first starting it up.

But i would probably like it to be a burnt valve because i understand that they can be replaced without taking off the head.
